Poem: Salvation (拯救)
A bilingual poem by Tom Mangione
THIS POEM IS FROM THE NEWLY PUBLISHED UNITED VERSES ANTHOLOGY
Plastacine pilgrims at the shuttle launch
Combinations, switchbacks in time
Black holes of memories leading back
We go under by going over
Priestly penny pinchers
Gather on the periphery
Flags of our fathers rise up
Nightime on the ranches
Hopeful looks to the sky
Counting Cassaeopia points
Trigonometric relationships
Like explanations in braile
New languages founded in the darkness
Men on the beach
Raise semaphores
Rockets lift off
We are going to a new land
Utopia of the stars
Through oceans of consciousness
Interpreted around a hope
Fallen comets cruising trajectories
We speak foreign 外国 tongues
Telling each other secrets
Over candlelit dinners
At home, revealed as frauds
Faraway well-wishers with implants
Feelings shared simultaneously
Grains of sand on the beaches
Rockets are taking off
They are flying
High to the cosmos
Take me with you
Take me off this shithole dream
I want to bring light to the darkness
I am a pilgrim
These pilgrims on the shore
And I want light
I want light, lumen luminis
Light over death
Light in the depths
Dreams infinite
On a planet that does not speak its name
The future, the heavenly future
Raining down in stereoscope
Dream dramatic
My desperate hopes fulfilled
Self-aware
Torn by access to the truth
Wanting love, but saying it's a lie
Holding myself to standards
I did not create, do not keep
Chess pieces move on a table
Towards checkmate
I am a chess piece
These pieces move and shift
They look like rockets
Rockets in the sky
